Kagan Lounge Chair

The Accent Lounge is a single seat; Loveseats is the two-seat version of the same chair. Both share the same 34.6" overall height and the same 35.4" front-to-back footprint — a deep, sit-back proportion rather than an upright armchair. What changes is the seating span: 30.7" on the Accent Lounge, 49.6" on the Loveseats. Leave roughly 28–30" of walking clearance in front of either one, and about 18" between the chair and a coffee table. Because the shell is angled back, both sizes read lower and deeper in a room than the overall height suggests — worth taping out on the floor before you order.

It holds up well to daily use; the looped weave is the one thing to be deliberate about. Bouclé gets its texture from looped yarn, and loops are what a claw or a zipper can catch. Keep pet nails trimmed, and if a loop does get pulled, trim it flush with small scissors rather than pulling it — that keeps the weave intact. For upkeep: vacuum with the upholstery attachment on low suction every week or two, brushing in one direction with the nap; blot spills straight down with a dry white cloth instead of rubbing. Any pilling that appears lifts off gently with a fabric shaver. In a busy household, a fabric protector made for delicate textiles, reapplied every few months, is worth the effort.

No — this one is built for indoor rooms, even though the frame is teak. Teak on its own is famously weather-tolerant, which is why the question comes up. The limit here is the upholstery: bouclé is an indoor textile, and sustained damp, UV, and temperature swings will fade and degrade it long before the frame is affected. Keep the chair inside, and out of hours of direct sun — uneven fading from a sunny window is the most common way an upholstered piece ages badly. If you want teak seating that can live outside, choose a piece specified for outdoor use rather than adapting this one.

No — it's our own chair, built on the sculptural mid-century form Kagan is known for. The exposed sculpted frame, the splayed legs, and the channeled lounge shell all belong to that 1950s–60s American mid-century vocabulary. This is not a vintage original, and it is not a licensed reissue from the Vladimir Kagan estate or its authorized manufacturers, who certify their own pieces. What we make is that silhouette in solid teak with bouclé upholstery — built and priced to be used every day rather than collected.

It's a deep, reclined lounge seat with cushioning that gives without bottoming out. The seat combines a soft, high-loft top layer over a high-resilience rebound foam core: the top layer is what you feel first, the rebound core is what keeps it from collapsing during long sittings and returns the shape afterwards. Paired with the 35.4" depth and the angled back, it's built for settling in with a book rather than for upright, dining-height posture. Expect the cushion to soften a little over the first few weeks as the foam takes your shape — that is normal, and it should not go flat. Plumping it occasionally keeps the surface even.
